Can Arsenal Snatch Third?

While we are still weeks away from the 12th May the race to secure the best possible position is getting more and more stressful, and there is a real sense now that time is running out for teams to pull off miracles. Currently sitting fourth on the table Arsenal is going to be keen to try and finish in the top three but with Tottenham already there and Manchester United and Chelsea snapping at their heels also keep to claim a top-four finish there are indeed more contenders than spaces this year. With the match between Arsenal and Tottenham ending in a draw freetips.com takes a look at the teams chasing 3rd going into the final stretch of the season.

Arsenal

Things have been up and down for the Gunners, and away matches are not their strong point. Last time they played away to BATE Borisav their opponents took a rather easy 1-0 victory with very little in the way of substance behind their challenge. With this being a crucial game for their EPL standing they really do need to win; currently, just four points separate them from Tottenham and Manchester United have pushed them back into fifth. Hopes are high for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is proving his worth having racked up 16 goals this season, and with support in the form of Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, they have the attacking power if they can overcome the away curse.

Tottenham

Sp*rs tend to play well at home, however before the North London Derby they lost their last two matches with both Burnley and Chelsea taking the points. Tottenham were lucky to come out of that game with a point, and it is that kind of result at this stage of the season that can make the difference. Has the ship been steadied after two losses or will Sp*rs do a Tottenham?

Chelsea

What can be said about Chelsea under Sarri? Some strange decisions have been made in recent months but they're picking up the points and stringing results together. The Blues still have to play Liverpool and Manchester United in April so there's no room for error in any of their other games. Chelsea will need an almost perfect end to the season to claim 3rd and Sarri's bizarre tinkering might make that an impossibility.

Manchester United

The game against Arsenal on the 10th will be crucial to United's chances of finishing in the top four. They've looked a much better side under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but they've got a Champions League match and an FA Cup quarter final sandwiching the Arsenal game. Do they have the squad depth to get results in all three matches? If they have a disappointing result against PSG on Wednesday they may need to prioritise a decisive win over Wolves on Saturday.

Liverpool and Manchester City are going toe-to-toe in one of the most exciting title battles of recent years but the race for 3rd is just as appealing and looking like it'll go down to the wire.
