Isaac Hayden; Arsenal's future leader?

Over the last few years, Arsenal have had a lot of talented players in their Academy but most of them didn’t make it at the club, instead seeking their fortunes elsewhere. Some of them were released and others were either loaned or sold to other clubs but this year the academy has a different feel to it. This year Arsenal have youngsters that are very close to the first team and look more likely than previous generations to make the grade.

This week on Goonersphere, I will be taking a closer look at Isaac Hayden, the promising young leader Arsenal have in their Academy.

Kris Olsson: Arsenal's Next Swedish Star?

We all know that Arsenal's Academy is one of the best in England and always has couple of talented youngsters in it. This season Arsenal have the likes of Zelalem, Crowley, Toral and Olsson. Today we'll be looking at Kristoffer Olsson, Arsenal's Swede who joined the club in 2011 from IFK Norrköping for only £200,000. Before joining Arsenal, Olsson was wanted by many clubs including Juventus, Ajax and IFK Göteborg. Also at the age of 13, Kristoffer was called up on trial by Chelsea but he didn't turn up.

Arsenal Appoint New Youth Coach

Arsenal have named Dutch youth development expert Andries Jonker as the new head of their Academy. Currently working as the Assistant Manager at VFL Wolfsburg, the 51-year-old will join the Gunners at the end of the season.

Prior to his current role in the Bundesliga Jonker spent seven years developing and implementing youth coaching reforms for the Dutch FA and also spent two seasons working as a senior coach in the youth setup of the Dutch Federation which included managing Holland's U15 and U21 teams.
