Arsenal legend hints at John Stones interest

Ex-Arsenal legend Robert Pires has claimed that John Stones would be a perfect signing for Arsenal and has tipped him to form a formidable partnership with Laurent Koscielny should Wenger sign the young Englishman from Everton.

Pires made the comments to Andy Murray over a game of French Bowls in a sponsored video for Standard Life. Olympic gold medallist and Wimbledon winner Andy Murray spoke of how he came to support Arsenal and was clearly revelling in spending time with one of his footballing icons.

Amongst things discussed, Pires declared Dennis Bergkamp to be the best player he ever played with and backed France for Euro 2016 glory. He also picked Seaman, Adams, Vieira, Bergkamp and Henry as his ideal Arsenal 5-a-side team whilst joking about how genuinely annoyed ex-teammates get if you leave them out of your all time XIs.

The one time Invincible revealed that he still trains with Arsenal's first team and has a huge amount of respect for Wenger. Shortly after, whilst discussing Arsenal's need for more English players, he openly displayed his admiration for Stones and declared him an ideal signing for Arsenal. Is that just a personal opinion or does it also have the touch of insider knowledge from the training ground?
