A Look at the Best and Brightest Players of Arsenal in the Premier League

The Premier League is called so because it has some of the best teams and players in the world; it wouldn’t be called the premier league otherwise. Arsenal has risen to its present status because it too has enjoyed the expertise of so many great players, and the skills they have brought to the club.

Who are these great players who have contributed to Arsenal becoming such a leader in the Premier League? And why are they such shining stars? Here’s a look at the best and brightest players at Arsenal.

Ray Parlour

This guy had a lot of things going against him when he joined the team; the arrival of Arsene Wenger could have spelled the end of it. Instead, however, he captured the hearts of the team (one of the funniest players he ever played with, according to Gilles Grimandi) and the hearts of the crowd – he was part of an attacking force that bridged eras.

Martin Keown

He wasn’t very delicate (though he could be when he wanted to be), but Martin was known to put up a fight and be horrible – although many argue that he always did his job. He was one of the great man-markers in British football history, and will be remembered for that. His 20-year career attests to this.

Ian Wright

This guy had his heart on his sleeve, and it’s exactly for this reason that he will always be remembered. He understood the game, but the game ran away with him at times; he showed his emotions at all times – everyone knew when he was winning, and everyone knew when he was losing as well. He wasn’t always the perfect example of sportsmanship, but many a dad trained their kids by letting them watch videos of Ian Wright’s work.

Gilberto Silva

Unfortunately underrated by many, his work deserves more credit than people warrant. He could be intimidating and crossed the line at times, but he provided a great platform as a midfielder for others to achieve great success.

Dennis Bergkamp

Name all the awards and winning accolades you like – it’s what he’s known for. However, he’s revered by his teammates as a truly great guy; that’s a rare compliment for professionals to give.

The players mentioned are just some examples of the best and brightest who have contributed to Arsenal’s success – there are many others. Who could forget Tony Adams, or Thierry Henry? What about David Seaman, Paul Merson, or Alexis Sanchez? Arsenal and the rest of the teams in the Premier League are at the level they are for good reason, and as long as they continue that way, they’re sure to give fans lots of fun and excitement for years to come.
