Does Arsenal Need Cesc Fabregas?
Striker
A striker, as we all know, is the most important part of the team that Arsene Wenger needs to strengthen despite Giroud's 16 league goals. Giroud, for all his weak points on the football pitch, has been a consistent goalscorer in his 2 years at Arsenal, despite what the masses think. He isn't the type of striker that the club need as first choice, he can't do the things we want to see from an Arsenal striker but in my opinion, however unpopular it will be, he has done very well this season and many people want to see him leave the club, but why? Where is the sense in selling a 20+ goal a season striker just because he isn't as consistent as we all expect from him? After all, he is only human, not super human like Thierry Henry!
So what striker should we be looking at? Well, with Giroud as back up to whoever comes in during this transfer window, a striker with a bit of pace, quick movement and of course, an eye for goal will be much needed. Hernandez from Man United? Quick, has a very good left foot when he gets the chance in front of goal and can weave into spaces that defenders will struggle to get to before him - just as long as he can actually stop being offside 98% of the time! Mandzukic? Although he may not be the most popular choice as to who we could potentially sign, he is strong, holds up the ball well, like Giroud, and gets into goalscoring positions as we have all seen many times this season when Bayern have used him.
Fabregas..? Still?
So, do we still need Fabregas? Well, if we have money left over after making all the signings we originally need to make, and if he's still available, why not? He would add depth to the squad and is the type of player who can win you the game as we all saw when he was at Arsenal for those few years before moving back to his most loved club.. If we do sign Cesc Fabregas in this transfer window, I wouldn't like to see it before we sign any of the players we need, that might be the wrong move on the chess board from Arsenal.
From a personal point of view, I wouldn't want to see Fabregas back due to the way he left - buying out his OWN CONTRACT to get away from Arsenal and return to the club he loves the most, but from a point of view as a passionate Arsenal fan, he would be a huge boost for players and fans at the club due to his previous spell in North London.
