An Arsenal Legend Was Born: On This Day 26th September

Fifty-six years ago in 1958 Kenny Sansom was born in Camberwell, London, and would eventually go on to become one of Arsenal and England finest full-backs of all time.

Despite well-publicised recent hardship Sansom is regarded as one of Arsenal finest defenders in the club’s history and everyone is delighted to see him back in fine shape.

Arsenal's Hattrick Hero: On this day, 29th August

The 29th August 1987 marked Alan Smith’s first of 115 goals in an Arsenal shirt scoring a hat-trick in a 6-0 win over Portsmouth at Highbury. Smith joined George Graham’s Arsenal from Leicester City in 1987 for a fee of £800,000 having spent five years with the Foxes scoring 84 goals in 217 appearances.

The rangy striker had struggled to find the back of the net in his first three appearances for the Gunners but when his first arrived it was followed by another two.
