An Unlikely Win But The Arsenal Is Just Getting Started
After a short break, the Champions League returned with the most intriguing match: Arsenal vs. Bayern, Arsène Wenger against Pep Guardiola, an outsider against a favorite. Football fans all over the world watched this extremely interesting game.
Arsenal was in a very difficult and unusual situation after unexpectedly losing to Zagreb's Dinamo and Olympiacos. I believe they lost because of Wenger's rotations. Losing to Dinamo was mainly caused by underestimating the competitor. The other loss was due to to Ospina's weak performance. It was clear that Arsenal had to win the game with Bayern. Arsenal was in great shape before the game. On September 26th they won against City, on October 4th they won against Manchester United and on October 17th they beat Watford. Some of us thought that perhaps Arsenal should forget the Champions League and focus on Premier League because there they had good chances of becoming champions.
Bayern is a strong competitor and Arsenal had to play their best. Both teams have greatest European forwards, Lewandowski and Alexis Sánchez. Both of them scored an unbelievable amount of goals during last month and were in great shape.
Before the game David Ospina said that it will be difficult to win. But in the past Arsenal played with teams as strong as Bayern and won. The goalkeeper was hopeful and said that Arsenal will do everything to win this match. Some fans had doubts. If the team had lost this game, the consequences would have been terrible. But Giroud and Özil made sure the team gets the ticket to the playoffs. After the match Londoners got the same scores as the GNK Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos.
Me and my wife have been Arsenal fans for a very long time. We live in France now. When Arsenal played against Marseille in 2013, we made a bet that we will quit smoking if Arsenal loses. We are always very sure that our team will win. They won the game and we did not have to quit. We usually buys cigarettes in our local store.
