NRM #3: Pogba, Nani and Bendtner

This week the Arsenal rumor mill takes us to Italy as Arsenal are currently interested in signing ex-Manchester United man Paul Pogba. The 20-year-old, as many others before him has been stylised as "the next Patrick Vieira" and may well suit Arsenal's style of play if he were to sign for the Gunners. Pogba is no stranger to the Premier League, previously played for United; however fell out of favor with Sir Alex Ferguson he went on his merry way to Juventus. However, life in Italy has not been all roses with Pogba a victim of racial abuse on numerous occasions, thus prompting the midfielder to possibly seek a change of scenery.

A move to North London may just be what the doctor ordered and would allow Cazorla to hike further up the pitch allowing him the freedom to attack as Pogba has no troubles in his defensive duties. Is he too young for the task? Possibly so, but with the stop start career that Abou Diaby has had at Arsenal, Pogba may be able to add a bit more tenacity into the Arsenal midfield.

Nani to Arsenal? If the Portuguese midfielder opens his horizons to the Gunners, Wenger must secure his signature - at all costs. On the other hand, David Moyes may think better of letting him go as even though he's struggled with injury and inconsistent performances, he offers a real sense of attacking fervor that Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia struggled to uphold this season.  Bringing the Portuguese international to the Emirates this summer would be a huge blow to Manchester United as transferring to a rival club especially within England - would cause an uproar for Red Devils supporters.

Furthermore, Nani would offer Wenger what he's been searching for all along - an all out winger.  As Theo Walcott stresses his pleasure with playing as a striker and Lukas Podolski never really hit his stride wide left, Nani could bring his menacing pace to the North London outfit as they search to take Europe by storm.  Even though rumors continue to swirl over Nani, is it likely that Arsenal can snab the current United player? My gut feeling says the move is unlikely as United reaped the rewards by signing Robin van Persie this past season, which may see Manchester United transfer Nani out of England to disregard any potential threats to United.

To build upon last weeks rumors around Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain, the Argentine recently indicated he would be moving on from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. His preferred destination seems uncertain at the moment; however, Juventus and Arsenal seem the most likely options.  With the numerous attacking options that Arsenal are linked to, is it time for Wenger to also search for more defensive options?  Although Per Mertesacker played excellent this season, along with Nacho Monreal as he arrived during last transfer window - wouldn't it be beneficial to bring in a few more options?

And as Thomas Vermaelen seems to be hitting the high road since falling out of favor with Wenger - rumors indicate that he may be following Rafa Benitez to Napoli.  That being said, all the best to the captain, but we'll have no trouble replacing him especially as Laurent Koscielny has played well when called upon.  Bring on the reinforcements - it's time to reload.

For heaven's sake - Arsène Wenger do not bring back Nicklas Bendtner.  The 25-year-old spent last season with Juve and failed to impress. He seems to be heading back to Arsenal this summer with the conclusion of his loan spell but where will the Dane head next?  He's certainly not won any hearts both in England or Italy with his inconsistencies and ego so Wenger may find it best to terminate the one remaining year on his contract.  After continued disappointment, we must understand that he is responsible for his own downfall and now is the time to part ways, permanently.
