Wenger confirms £52m signings

Arsène Wenger has just confirmed that Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez have signed for Arsenal from Valencia and Deportivo respectively. The two players have joined for a combined £52m taking Arsenal's summer spending to a little over £90m which includes Xhaka, Holding, Nwakali and Asano.

Speaking to media after the 3-1 win over Watford the Arsenal manager said:

“We have bought two players, you know. Mustafi and of course Lucas Pérez, we’ll integrate our team now. We have a good little break, we can help them join the squad. Perez, because he’s not in the Spanish national team can come straight away, for Mustafi we have to wait because he goes away with the German national team.”

This likely concludes Arsenal's summer transfer business with the only deals expected now are loan moves for some of Arsenal's youth and fringe players. The manager is quoted as saying:

“We have a very big squad now. We have spent a lot of money now, and we had to work very hard to get these two signings done. We have no plans for anybody else now.”

It is expected the players will be officially announced on Monday although their photoshoots and media duties have been completed thanks to a quicker than expected turnaround.

Arsenal fans can be pleased that for what seems like the first summer in a long time all the key issues have been addressed.
