When Robin Van Persie turned his back on everything Arsene Wenger and Arsenal had done for him whilst he spent season after season on the treatment table to head to Manchester United of all places, Theo Walcott, at that time, became Arsenal's most potent attacking player. Van Persie's exit had followed the likes of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas in previous seasons and Theo and his agent knew that when the two sides came to talk about a new contract that it was Walcott who had all the bargaining power.
A Gooner Matata
A Gooner Matata, what a wonderful phrase...
Chris is a season ticket holder, part-time away fan and is adamant that Arshavin was not a flop! Ask him what he is all about and his answer will simply be "The Arsenal".
Before I begin, sorry for the lack of umlauts in the following piece. Whenever texting or tweeting I spell Ozil's name correctly as it's not hard but I'm no computer whizz and I don't know how to do it on a laptop. Sorry.
I'm also sorry for yet another piece coming your way about Mesut Ozil. There have been a countless amount ranging from how much of an unappreciated genius he is to why we should sell up and accept he's a flop. I've always been somewhere in the middle. On his day he's world class but has he justified the £42.5 million price tag? Probably not. But he's beginning to and since coming back from injury all bulked up he's been brilliant.
If you didn't know already Arsenal have been drawn away to Manchester United in the next round of the FA Cup. You'd be forgiven for thinking the match had already been played and that Arsenal lost at Old Trafford, missing out on the club's best chance of silverware this year, given the reaction to the draw.
Truth is, I'm not overly confident myself. It's almost like Old Trafford and Manchester United has become a psychological barrier that Arsenal simply cannot overcome. The words themselves do promote a bit of fear, worry and dread. If Arsenal turn up though, get over the "it's Manchester United" hoodoo and play their best they are more than good enough to beat this United side. Honestly.
